And then, the next morning, we went to Hometown Buffet so get some breakfast meals. Unfortunately, they don’t have breakfast buffet on the weekdays. My husband was frustrated and upset about it. However, we still ate there, as we were very hungry. It was almost 11am when we got there. So, we had brunch meals. Then, after that we went home and took a nap for two hours. It was a very good sleep. We woke up at around 3pm and drove to IKEA to buy some stuff for our house. It was a great shopping as I love going and checking out IKEA. They always have some great deals. I got some kitchenware for a cheap price. Anyhow, I hope we can do something like this again. It was a nice short getaway.

I was surprised to know that my husband is off tomorrow. He did not tell me about it until today. What a surprise! Normally, he gets the weekend off but this week, he get Friday off. That’s really nice. Now, he wants to go somewhere where we can spend a night together. It is a very nice thought considering that we work really hard at work. It is great to have a break from reality sometimes. I think I am going to like my weekend off. I wish we could go to Vegas. It has been two years since the last we went there. I kinda miss it. Well, you know Vegas it is one of the most affordable vacation destination here in the U.S. And it is just 5 hours drive from where we live. But well, wherever my husband takes me tonight, I would gladly go with him.

I could hardly wait for my weekend off. I am really looking forward to it. I don’t have any plans yet for the weekend but surely, I want to have fun and enjoy it. I still have to ask my husband; hopefully, we will go and do something fun. I feel I deserve to have fun because I have been working really hard at work. My partner at work does not really do her best to get things done on time so, I always ended up doing more. I really don’t like it. I cannot tell her about her speed yet since she’s new to the work environment. You see, our work is very fast-pace. On weekdays, we only have four hours to get things done. If you were not able to get things on time, you still have to do even if you already clocked out. It is very challenging. But my co-worker does not realize that. She lags all the time as if she’s just at home. I just don’t know what to do with her. If she’s still going to act like that in a month, then I will be forced to confront her.

Are you waiting for Dell’s tablet? Yes, it will be released soon. I am not really gadget person. I always wonder how it feels to be a gadget person. Actually, my husband bought me Acer netbook when it first came out in 2008. I was so excited to receive it even though I always wanted to have a notebook. Now, I don’t like my netbook anymore. It’s too small and very limited. I love the desktop computer. So, I have a Toshiba notebook now. If I want to go somewhere I can bring it with me even though it’s bigger than netbook. The netbook is very handy but it’s just very limited when it comes to features. Now, I am planning on giving it to one of my siblings. Notebook to me comes in handy with me since I use computer a lot. And also I like the keyboard in my new Toshiba notebook.

Some people think that being a vegetarian is hard. They think that all vegetarians eat only vegetables salads and that vegetarians have protein deficiency. They don’t know that vegans and vegetarians get their protein from legumes, some vegetables, and veggie burgers. I love veggie burgers but I am now meticulous in buying some veggie burgers. Recently, it was in the news that some veggie burgers found to contain harmful substance called hexane – it is used to process soy. What is hexane? Hexane is listed as hazardous air pollutant with the Environmental Protection Agency or EPA and it is a neurotoxin and by-product of gasoline refining. Most non-organic veggie burgers contain hexane. Veggie burger manufacturers used hexane to keep down the fat content of energy bars, veggie burgers and other similar products. They plunge soybeans in a bath of hexane to split them into soy oil, protein and fiber. Oh, now I don’t feel like eating non-organic veggie burgers like Boca burgers. The organic veggie burgers are safe. Now, I have to look for organic ones. Anyhow, organic foods are way better than non-organic ones. Veggies that contain hexane-extracted soy ingredients are Amy’s kitchen, Boca burger (the conventional kind, so that means I have to choose the organic kind), garden burger, and morningstar farms, lightlife, trader joes, Yves veggie cuisine, it’s all good, franklin farms, soy boy, president’s choice, and taste above – for more information click here. Oh boy, I love those veggie burgers that have been mentioned. I guess, I better make my own burger or maybe instead of eating veggie burgers I should just roast some vegetables in the oven and make a roast veggies sandwich. That sounds good!

I just went to the store today. As I was browsing, I saw a warning where the balsamic vinegar is located. The warning sign says, “This product contains lead, a chemical known to the State of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm.” It was in fine print. I was shocked upon reading the warning sign. The warning is under Proposition 65 here in California. All balsamic and red wine vinegars appear to have trace of amount of lead. It is believed that “Most balsamic and red wine vinegars have lead levels equal to or less than 34 parts per million. An average person would need to consume 1 to 2 cups of balsamic or red wine vinegar per day to reach the Proposition 65 lead level minimum threshold, which includes a 1000-fold safety margin.” Aged vinegars, favored by gourmets and cost about $100 a bottle, contain more lead than the quicker brewed, less expensive kinds. Lead can harm people’s neurological systems, mainly children’s developing brains. Lead also is a carcinogen, and in adults, it is linked to cardiovascular, kidney and immune system effects. Actually, lead is not only found in vinegar as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency estimates that North Americans consume 50 micrograms of lead each day through food, beverages and dust. A microgram is a millionth of a gram. Most children, the biggest risk of lead exposure comes from old, deteriorating house paint and tap water, not only from vinegar. But it is just that vinegars are acidic and make the metal fully soluble so it’s more easily absorbed into the bloodstream. There are some balsamic and red vinegar that do not violate California’s proposition 65 limits for lead. Click here for details.

Honestly, it could be time consuming sometimes. I could have been doing something more valuable than facebooking. It’s fun! But I need to control myself on visiting my facebook every day. Yeah right?! Can I really do that? We’ll see. Facebook is such a very great concept – you can check out what your friends are up to and you can shout out your thoughts, experience, emotions, etc. at the same time. Is it really worth my time messing with Facebook every day? I am now starting to question myself since I saw the video of South Park talking about Facebook, it’s very funny but it’s true. Like I said, Facebook is fun. It’s fun.

Happy Valentines to everyone! Why Valentines Day is symbolized or associated with Cupids? It is because the story of Cupid is one of love. Cupid was said to have fallen in love with Psyche, a mortal. He married her, but she was forbidden to look at him. One day she disobeyed these orders but Cupid ran away from her. In order to be reunited with Cupid, Psyche paid a visit to Venus, Cupid’s mother. After making her undergo several tests, Venus reunited Psyche and Cupid. Eventually, according to the story, Cupid and Psyche gave birth to a child named pleasure (what a name!). Other legends about Cupid’s arrows. It is said that whoever is struck or hit by Cupid’s arrow immediately falls in love with the next person they see. Supposedly, this is how Venus came to fall in love with the god Adonis. Cupid’s arrows are either golden or leaden. A golden arrow represents true love, while a leaden arrow represents lust. Sometimes, Cupid is even said to carry a torch. This torch is supposedly used to light passion between a man and a woman.

I took a nap for nearly two hours today. I have been working since Thursday last week. Guess what? Tomorrow is my day off. I am so glad about it. I have one more day until my day off. I can hardly wait. And I am excited about it. I don’t have any plans of going anywhere but I want to take a rest. I feel that my body is telling to chill and cool down. I can say that I am exhausted. It is not fun to work seven days in a row. Not fun at all! But I am looking forward to seeing my paycheck. Wohoo! Well, I work hard and I get paid more. The pay is not that big but it pays off our bills. What else could I ask for more? I am grateful to God for having a job despite our economy.
