Proper sitting posture at computer
Sitting in front of the computer can cause various joint and muscle problems. If you use a computer at length of several hours daily, it is recommended that you consider proper posture to reduce your risk of developing injuries of the hand/arm, shoulder, neck, and back. These symptoms can include numbness in the fingers, sore wrists, lower back pain, or eyestrain. You may also experience aches and pains in the neck, shoulders, arms, back, thighs, and lower legs (postural fatigue). I can say that I have developed these problems over the years of using computer a lot. My posture is not really good as I tend to slouch when I sit. Since I have been experiencing some aches in my neck and upper back, I decided on researching some ways to prevent or somehow minimize problems caused by sitting a lot in front of the computer.
- Push your hips as far back as they can go in the chair. Sit where your feet are flat on the floor and your knees equal to, or slightly lower than, your hips. And adjust the back of the chair to a 100°-110° reclined angle and make your upper and lower back supported. What I do I used a cushion to support my back.
- Set your keyboard in front of your body, the keys are centered with your body. Adjust the keyboard height so that your shoulders are relaxed, your elbows are in a slightly open position, and your wrists and hands are straight. Use wrist rests to help maintain neutral postures and pad hard surfaces. However, most keyboards nowadays come with wrist rest pads.
- Adjust the monitor making your neck is in a neutral and relaxed position. Center the monitor directly in front of you, above your keyboard. Position the top of the monitor approximately 2-3” above your seated eye level.
- Take small breaks during your workday. This is to release some muscle tensions.

Getting chores done quickly
I really like doing some outdoor activities with my husband. In fact, I don’t mind helping him fixing our cars, cleaning up our shed, pulling some weeds, etc. It is good for husbands and wives to spend time with each other in this kind of activities. Just like the other day, I went with him to the store to get some tarps. He needed some tarps for our backyard since he got some stuff just laying on the ground without any cover. He needed one tarp for those materials for rebuilding our porch. The tarp would protect them from rain.
He also wanted to get a truck tarp for his Toyota pick-up truck. Our pick-up truck does not have a canopy. It’s just practical to have tarps ready in case of rain or snow. He is planning on getting custom made tarps. A custom made tarp would be perfect. But that’s for later as it costs a bit more.
However, we are planning on washing our car this weekend. That would be fun! I cannot wait to get done. My car looks dirty right now both the inside and out. I love working with my husband. He is just fun to be with. When two people work together, things will get done quickier.
