Happy Labor Day!
It’s Labor Day! I am enjoying this long weekend with my husband. I really like it when he gets time off and gets to spend time with us. We really don’t have any exciting plans today except to do our filing. Anyhow, here in the U.S., we celebrate Labor Day on every first Monday of the month of September. (Wow, it’s already September, where did the time go?) Labor Day is to celebrate the economic and social contributions of workers. According to wikipedia, ” The first big Labor Day in the United States was observed on September 5, 1882, by the Central Labor Union of New York. It was first proposed by Peter J. McGuire of the American Federation of Labor in May 1882, after witnessing the annual labor festival held in Toronto.” Oregon was the first state to make it a holiday in 1887.
