Veggie burgers

Some people think that being a vegetarian is hard. They think that all vegetarians eat only vegetables salads and that vegetarians have protein deficiency. They don’t know that vegans and vegetarians get their protein from legumes, some vegetables, and veggie burgers. I love veggie burgers but I am now meticulous in buying some veggie burgers. Recently, it was in the news that some veggie burgers found to contain harmful substance called hexane – it is used to process soy. What is hexane? Hexane is listed as hazardous air pollutant with the Environmental Protection Agency or EPA and it is a neurotoxin and by-product of gasoline refining. Most non-organic veggie burgers contain hexane. Veggie burger manufacturers used hexane to keep down the fat content of energy bars, veggie burgers and other similar products. They plunge soybeans in a bath of hexane to split them into soy oil, protein and fiber. Oh, now I don’t feel like eating non-organic veggie burgers like Boca burgers. The organic veggie burgers are safe. Now, I have to look for organic ones. Anyhow, organic foods are way better than non-organic ones. Veggies that contain hexane-extracted soy ingredients are Amy’s kitchen, Boca burger (the conventional kind, so that means I have to choose the organic kind), garden burger, and morningstar farms, lightlife, trader joes, Yves veggie cuisine, it’s all good, franklin farms, soy boy, president’s choice, and taste above – for more information click here. Oh boy, I love those veggie burgers that have been mentioned. I guess, I better make my own burger or maybe instead of eating veggie burgers I should just roast some vegetables in the oven and make a roast veggies sandwich. That sounds good!
